Intelligent conversation operations
Court confirmations, waitlist releases and the no-show fee, on the app every player in the group chat already has open. The split that decides what you can send: a booking confirmation is utility and reaches every player; "courts are half price at 2pm" is marketing and reaches only the ones who agreed to it.
The category decides everything else: the price, whether it reaches somebody who opted out, and the criteria it is reviewed against.
| Message | Category | What that means |
|---|---|---|
| Court booked, court changed, booking cancelled | Utility | About a booking the player made. Reaches them whatever their marketing preference — and the reply reopens a window you can use to sort out the fourth player. |
| A court opened up on the waitlist — reply YES within 10 minutes | Utility | The player asked to be told. The reply button is a quick-reply, and the first YES wins the slot in Zanii's inbox rather than in a WhatsApp group where three people claim it. |
| Ladder and tournament fixtures, results, next round | Utility | The player registered for the competition, so the fixture is about something they did. A promotional line at the bottom turns the whole template into marketing — keep the sponsor off it. |
| Off-peak court offers, a new academy intake, a padel night | Marketing | Priced higher and excluded for anybody who opted out. Segment it by what they play — a padel night to your tennis-only members reads as spam and gets reported. |
A club that charges for late cancellations usually tells the player when they fail to show — by which point the player last messaged three days ago, the 24-hour window is shut, and the message will not deliver as free text. It has to go as an approved template, and a template whose only content is "you owe us 150 dirhams" is reviewed hard. What gets approved is the fee stated in the booking confirmation itself, with the cancellation deadline as a variable, and a reply button to cancel in time. Zanii shows the window on every conversation and swaps the composer for the template picker when it has closed, so nobody on the desk types a chase that silently never arrives.
Hi {{1}}, court {{2}} is booked for {{3}} at {{4}}. Free cancellation until {{5}}; after that the no-show fee applies. Tap below if plans change.

The double braces are variables WhatsApp fills per recipient. Meta rejects a template whose numbering has gaps, and Zanii catches that before you submit it.
