WhatsApp for travel agencies and tour operators

Itineraries, boarding reminders and a traveller in a different time zone who is not going to check email. Travel is the vertical where the 24-hour window is most often closed at exactly the moment you need it.

What you send, and what it counts as

The category decides everything else: the price, whether it reaches somebody who opted out, and the criteria it is reviewed against.

Time zones are not a formatting problem

A traveller's 24-hour window runs on real time, not on your office hours. A booking made on Friday afternoon in Dubai and a check-in reminder due Sunday morning in Bangkok are separated by a closed window and a template you either wrote in advance or did not. This is also why scheduled campaigns matter more here than anywhere else — Zanii starts one within a minute of its time, and shows the timezone it is using.

A check-in reminder

Hi {{1}}, check-in for {{2}} opens in 24 hours. Your reference is {{3}}. Reply here if you need anything before you fly.

The double braces are variables WhatsApp fills per recipient. Meta rejects a template whose numbering has gaps, and Zanii catches that before you submit it.

Common questions

Can I send tickets and itineraries as PDFs?
Yes, up to 100 MB per document. An uploaded file is usable for 30 days, so a campaign scheduled further out than that fails at send — Zanii shows the expiry on every item in the media library rather than letting you find out from a failed send.
How do we handle a flight change at 2am?
With a template that was approved in advance and a rule that fires it. The airline's schedule-change feed or your GDS alert triggers the "your flight {{1}} now departs {{2}}" utility template automatically, to every traveller on the booking, with a button to reach the duty agent — who sees the replies in the inbox in the morning, or gets paged if you route urgent replies to a phone. What fails at 2am is a person typing free text to travellers whose window closed days ago.
Does CRA apply to these messages?
Commercial messaging to Qatari numbers falls under the Communications Regulatory Authority, and Ooredoo and Vodafone Qatar both apply sender registration on their side. Meta's business verification asks for the MOCI commercial registration; a QFC-licensed entity submits its QFC licence instead. Opt-out must be honoured within the same channel it was requested in.
